Final straight for the take-off of the ITA airline (Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos) in Brazil, the new company of the traditional bus companies in that country that plans to debut in the coming months in the Brazilian cabotage. This week it is carrying out its certification flights, a key step for its definitive qualification.

As HOSTELTUR reported last March, the Itapemirim Group, the traditional land passenger tourist transport company within Brazil, formalized the launch of ITA (Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos), its own airline, also focused on the domestic market.
At that time, the company’s takeoff was announced for April, and an increase in the fleet by the end of the year, when it would reach 10 aircraft, according to the business plan. But, although that start seems to be somewhat delayed, the project is progressing steadily.
On Monday, April 12, ITA began its certification flights with the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), a necessary requirement to obtain the Aeronautical Operator Certificate (COA) in the country.
These tests will be carried out until Thursday 15, linking the airports of Guarulhos (São Paulo), Confins (Belo Horizonte) Salvador (Bahia), Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) and Galeão (Rio de Janeiro).
In this regard, the president of the Itapemirim Group, Sidnei Piva, assured: “We have reached the final stage for the realization of the airline and we are very happy with everything we have achieved so far. We will complete our schedule to obtain the ANAC certifications within the foreseen term ”.
In March, precisely, the main executives of the company had met with the federal Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto. And, in that context, Piva had asserted: “Now, Itapemirim has gained wings and we will begin operations in air transport with a strong focus on serving our passengers, initiating a new benchmark for quality and competitiveness in the main markets in which we operate” . At that time no clues had been given about which destinations it will connect, and this information was not released today.
The Itapemirim Group has a 67-year history and today operates 89 land routes and more than 5,700 monthly departures from 2,700 cities throughout the country, in 19 states.
