iPhone 13: Price, Specs,

While the iPhone 13 is out, we’ve already started to see a lot of buzz about what Apple has in store for us when the phone arrives in the fall.

From everything we’ve heard so far, the iPhone 13 is set to offer a 120Hz LTPO display on both Pro models, longer battery life thanks to a more efficient 5G modem, as well as substantial updates to significant cameras. That includes a LiDAR sensor in the cheaper iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, as well as a new portrait video mode.

Design-wise, we’ve heard that the notch is getting thinner and that at least one iPhone 13 model may come with a genuinely portless design. That is possible now that we have MagSafe charging. Finally, we were also able to see an always-on screen.

Based on all the rumours and leaks out there, here’s everything we know about the iPhone 13.

iPhone 13 Price

A report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple would offer four sizes for the iPhone 13. So you can expect a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Expect them to cost the same as the iPhone 12 range, making $ 699, $ 799, $ 999, and $ 1,099, respectively. Apple tends to keep its pricing structure relatively rigid from generation to generation, so we do not expect any increase in the price tag.
iPhone 13 Name

This fall, early iPhone rumours have used iPhone 13 as the next model name, as Apple switched from iPhone 11 to iPhone 12 last year. But a handful of recent words have referred to the unreleased iPhone under a different name: the iPhone 12s.

Putting an “s” at the end of a model number would be a return to form for Apple, which alternates between releasing a new model number and then an “s” version of that same phone the following year. The last phone to fit that pattern was the iPhone 6s, released in 2015 (technically, the 2018 iPhone XS could be part of that naming scheme, although, at the same time, Apple introduced the iPhone XR as well).

The ‘s’ model of iPhones generally implied that the phone had a lot in common with last year’s version, save for a few key improvements. So if Apple chooses the iPhone 12s or iPhone 13 as a name, it will tell a lot about how different this year’s phone is.
iPhone 13 design

A report by Mac Otakara, having spoken to sources in Apple’s supply chain, reports that the iPhone 13’s design will eventually offer a slimmer notch. This can be achieved by moving the top speaker.

A recent leak from so-called “industry sources” has also pointed out that the iPhone 13 will have a smaller notch. Apple will achieve this downsizing by combining the currently separate infrared flood illuminator, sensor, and spot projector, which make up the iPhone 12’s Face ID unlocking system, into a single module. With two fewer sensors needed, we should see a much narrower notch on the iPhone 13.

If you want to get an idea of what it would look lposted a few versions of the iPhone 13, actually labelled iPhone 12s Pro, showing Apple’s phone with a smaller notch and a Touch ID sensor under the phone’s screen.

Also, the iPhone 13 can be a bit thicker, which would allow for a larger battery.

The most significant change we can expect from the iPhone 13 is that a model could feature a portless design, dropping the Lightning port and opting for wireless charging and data transfer. That would be a sea change from the iPhone 12, but it could also trigger a movement for the smartphone world to slowly abandon its reliance on ports and the included chargers and cables. (Apple already made such a move with the iPhone 12, not including a charger with any of those phones.)

With this in mind, Apple may introduce a way to integrate Face ID into the IP bezels. Hone 13. Last fall, leaker Ben Geskin posted a render on Twitter detailing how the system might work, incorporating the truedepth system as a whole. And earpiece within the top bezel of the earpiece.

Another rumour has suggested that Apple could remove the Face ID sensor technology currently in the notches of the modern iPhone screen. But that will mean that the iPhone 13 will have larger screen bezels to support the sensor technology; However, take this leak with a dose of skepticism.

We can expect an iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, but things are not so clear on whether there will be an iPhone 13 mini.

The iPhone 12 mini has not sold very well and can be considered a failure. This has led to speculation that it could be removed. But a new leak makes the iPhone 13 mini still available. iPhone 13 Touch ID

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple offers an in-display fingerprint sensor for the iPhone 13. This would be in addition to Face ID.

A separate report in the Wall Street Journal details that Apple will use a new optical in-display fingerprint sensor to perform Touch ID. Samsung phones use an ultrasonic reader, but the claim is that the visual variety could be more accurate in Apple’s implementation.

Cupertino has never released an iPhone with Face ID and Touch ID. Still, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also claims that Apple considers adding an in-display fingerprint sensor to its 2021 devices.

Kuo pointed out that Apple viewed both biometric technologies as complementary, with the potential to work well together, so we could potentially see the sporty Face ID and Touch ID of the iPhone 13. Since the current version of Face ID cannot recognize the people with skins, and Apple updated its iOS software to better suit users with skins, we suspect the company has to think about retrieving Touch ID more elegantly.

A patent discovered by AppleInsider sheds light on how Cupertino could achieve this, with a sophisticated on-screen system that uses a series of microlenses to focus on a subject’s fingerprint. In theory, this would improve readability which is usually diminished by screen translucency.
