Learning how to navigate an airport is very simple once you have done it a few times. If it’s your first time, it can get a bit confusing. In this note we are going to teach you how to move around an airport as if you were an expert.
The first thing you have to do before leaving for the airport is to see which terminal you are leaving from. You can find out that information by entering the airline’s page the day before and looking for your flight. If you leave Ezeiza, you will have three terminals A, B and C. There is not much return. If you leave Aeroparque or an airport in the interior, forget about this. It is a single terminal.
It is essential to carry your passport. If you travel within Mercosur, your ID is valid. We recommend you to be three hours before, especially if it is your first time.
Look at the monitors and search for your flight. From left to right you will find the departure time of your flight, the flight destination, the airline logo, the flight number, the terminal that we told you about before (the photo is from Ezeiza), the counter numbers , boarding gate or “gate” and flight status.
Identify the counter number of your flight and go there. If you see that your flight does not yet have a counter number, it means that you arrived very early. Wait.
With your suitcases, go to the counter and ask if it is the one for your flight, you will not lose anything. Once they take care of you, they will ask you for the documents and dispatch your suitcase. In exchange, they will give you a boarding pass or “Boarding Pass” that indicates: flight number, seat, boarding gate or “Gate” and boarding time.
Boarding pass: It is the document that they will ask for when you get on the plane and in the event of a loss of luggage. It doesn’t happen often, but it happens.
Seat: The seat will appear as A22 or similar. Where 22 is the row and A is the seat position in the row. A is always a window, B is generally a seat between two and C is an aisle. The rest of the seats depend on the plane.
Boarding gate: It tells us where we have to take the plane and at what time. At that door you will find a monitor that tells you that you are in the right place.
Boarding time: It is the time you have to get on the plane. It is usually between 20 and 30 minutes before takeoff.
With your boarding pass, documentation and your handbag (the other we dispatch), we go to the boarding gates. Here begins a little path in which it is impossible to get lost, because you cannot go back and there is only one possible path.
You are going to go through the security check. Take it all out. Watch, wallet, coins, belt, wallet. Everything. They are going to pass it through an X-ray tape to see what you are wearing. It is forbidden to carry liquids or sharp objects, among other things. You can take the selfie stick with you.
Once you pass the security check, if your flight is to another country you will have migrations. They will ask for your boarding pass, your document, a photo and your right thumb. If your flight is within the country, forget about this step.
Now you find the Free Shop. If you have time, gossip and whatever you want to buy, buy it when you return so you don’t have extra weight and see if you can afford the twine.
Go to your boarding gate and wait to catch the plane.
