What was once the private plane of the legendary Puerto Rican gang Menudo, was curiously the subject of investigation by the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Magazine, who recounts the story of the airplane that now lies in an aircraft and parts graveyard in Eagan, Minnesota.
According to the magazine, this plane – which if you are a fan of the band that sells millions of records in the United States, Mexico, Central and South America and basically all over the world – was an important part of the travel logistics and tours of the most popular Hispanic band in the eighties. The aircraft is a 1961 Lockheed Martin Jet Star and still features the band’s visible insignia.
It is said that among the owners of the artifact was a Shah from Iran, who used it for almost 15 years before selling it to the General Mills company, who later sold it to the Phillip Equipment Company of Eagan. This company then sold it to a President of Mexico, who later sold it to the Menudo band until the group’s manager went bankrupt to then sell it back to Phillip Inc.
If the old and forgotten metal of this airplane could speak, surely it would have interesting stories to tell. Definitely a story that we must follow up personally, setting out in search of the plane that once invited us to fly.
