The European Union (EU) is analyzing several options to be able to travel without restrictions this summer. A certificate of immunity to covid-19 or a rapid test are some of the options that are on the table, as explained by the European Commissioner Thierry Breton.
Those responsible for tourism in several European countries are asking for measures to allow travel, and, in that sense, Breton has explained that to travel normally some of these options could serve.
According to the commissioner, those people who want to move or travel will have the right to do so with guarantees. In this sense, Breton has stated that some type of certificate can be established for people already vaccinated, to demonstrate their immunity.
Another option that is being studied is to use rapid tests when traveling, which must be reliable and as accurate as possible, as clarified by the commissioner.
In addition, he has assured that they are working with scientists to obtain fast and abundant evidence on these tests.
Breton has also spoken out about the lack of vaccines in the European Union.
According to the commissioner, the problem would be in the production of these, and, in that sense, he added that the solution is to strengthen the existing factories, instead of building new factories, since it could take years.
