Its president, Eduardo Paniagua, and his predecessor, Jorge Hernández, have exchanged various accusations that led to complaints before the corresponding authorities and the expulsion of the second, who is president of Viajes Premier. This Tuesday, at a press conference, Paniagua summarized in ten points the anomalies found in the operation and finances of the association, which, among other things, imply an amount of 1.6 million pesos that do not have tax receipts and must be adequately clarified.
In addition, the president of the AMAV made mention of complaints that he has made in the face of direct threats that he has suffered after assuming office, in June 2019.
“In July (2019), in the celebration of Travel Agent’s Day, I suffered threats from Delgado, and on July 11, at the meeting of the Tourism Diplomacy Council I again suffered threats from Jorge Hernández and raised the corresponding complaint” detailed.
In a press release, released this Tuesday (three days after the AMAV reported that, by unanimous votes in the national assembly, it expelled 11 of its members from its ranks, including Jorge Serapio Hernández Delgado), Hernández wrote: “ In my entire tourist career, which is more than 40 years, I have never threatened members of the AMAV or anyone, the only thing I have done is tell some members who have been in charge of defaming me to tell me face-to-face and legally ”.
